Tempering Valves Brisbane
These valves are now compulsory for all bathrooms and en-suites in new or renovated dwellings. If you are replacing an existing hot water system you should have a tempering valve installed in most cases, however there are some exemptions. Tempering valves mix hot water with cold water to supply tempered hot water at a suitable temperature to wash with. As hot water tanks must hold water at a minimum of 60 degrees C by law; it is a common complaint that the water at the tap is scalding hot, hence the use of a tempering valve. There are a number of different tempering valves available with each being specific to a particular application though the outlet temperature setting for all of these valves should be no greater than 50 degrees C in a domestic dwelling.

Blue Cap Tempering Valve- This valve is probably the most commonly found and is for use in conjunction with electric water heaters.

Green Cap Tempering Valve- The High Performance valve is suitable to gas hot water systems including gas storage, continuous flow and instantaneous models.

Orange Cap Tempering Valve– Ultra / High performance valve for use with Solar Hot water and Heat Pump hot water systems.

Black Cap Tempering Valve– For large capacity systems and low pressure gravity feed systems.
