Question : I would like to add another bathroom or move a plumbing fixture in our home; do I have to go notify the local council to submit plumbing or building applications?
Answer:
Yes. Whenever you change the layout of your plumbing fixtures such as sinks, basins, baths, showers, toilets etc, you must submit the relevant plumbing and building application forms before work can commence.
Question : My Hot Water System / Tank drips water every day, is there something wrong?
Answer:
Not necessarily. Hot water systems / tanks have pressure relief / expansion valves fitted to them. This automatic relief valve opens when the expansion of the hot water inside the tank reaches a pre set pressure. The relief valve will allow water to be released thus stabilizing the pressure inside the water heater. This protects the tank from excessive pressure build up which could split the tank. If your water heater continually drips water then you should call a licensed plumber to carry out an inspection. Relief valves should be replaced at intervals not exceeding 5 years.
